Peter Danemo

In the studio
It is January 14, 2011. I find myself in the legendary Atlantis Studio in Stockholm. It’s 9:30 AM. A kind of low-key activity is underway. Some are warming up, someone is looking through their sheet music while sipping a cup of coffee. There’s casual conversation and joking. Most things are in place. We do a quick soundcheck. I glance out across the studio room. Suddenly it hits me.

The musicians who have been so present in my thoughts while composing the music are now right in front of me. All the work has led to this moment.

Now we’re here. This is when it happens. We’ve rehearsed for a couple of days. Everyone is familiar and comfortable with what’s written. The path and the space in between—we know very little about that. I look out over the room again and let myself be filled with the calm concentration that is slowly spreading. I take a deep breath. The music will go where it wants to go. Here we go!
